Roblox

Lock down who can talk to your child in under 15 minutes

Roblox is a social gaming platform where strangers can message, friend, and join games with minors. Parental controls exist but are not on by default. Most risk comes from DMs, off-platform contact requests, and adults posing as peers.

Settings to change now

  1. 1

    Enable Account Restrictions (under 13)

Account Restrictions limit chat to curated messages and restrict who can message the child. Turn this on in Settings → Privacy.

  2. 2

    Set Parent PIN

A Parent PIN prevents your child from changing privacy settings without your code. Set it in Settings → Parental Controls.

  3. 3

Who can message me → Friends or No one

Change Settings → Privacy → Contact Settings so strangers cannot DM your child. Review each setting: messages, invites, and who can join them.

  4. 4

    Review friends list together

Ask your child to explain every friend. Remove anyone they only know from in-game chat. Real friends usually exist off-platform too.

Disable voice chat if not needed
